I agree that Rachel Dolezal is not particularly newsworthy any more (and wasn't that newsworthy even at the height of things) and should just be left alone.But that's what most transgender people want too - just to be left alone and not have active interference in their lives from the outside. Also, to extend the analogy, what Dolezal did in terms of asserting herself to being black is more akin to Bruce Jenner asserting himself to be a woman and therefore being permitted to compete as a woman in the Olympics. I think everyone would agree that such an assertion could be challenged. |
