Because it keeps an influx of fresh ideas. And to your point that lobbyists would benefit, I disagree. Now they have to bribe a new set of guys every term to keep their protectionist laws on the books.Automatic disqualification from reelection is for a ignorant and indifferent electorate. Because so many vote party lines like lemmings the only way to get a change is to force a new face in. The party always runs the incumbent because the incumbent usually wins. Heaven forbid people actually have to think every few years! |
