I can find just one DOE program which spent $10 million to develop an LED bulb, and another one which provided $10 million in rebates for upgrading to LEDs. That's less than what we spent on Iraq and Afghanistan in 3 hours so we can definitely afford that bill if we can afford those wars.On the other hand the Chinese have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in LED manufacturing. Really we're taking advantage of the Chinese government's subsidies by buying cheaper LEDs here in the US. |
