As I'm reading these posts, "Church Bells May Ring" and the "Bristol Stomp" are playing in my head.

Church Bells May Ring was recorded by The Willows as well as The Diamonds in 1956. I guess the Willows version came first and The Diamonds covered it.

Though the Bristol Stomp, out in 1961 was at the tail end of the doo wop era.

The Bristol Stomp was released in September of 1961. But for me, "Just Like Romeo and Juliet" by The Reflections was doo wops last gasp. It released on May 2, 1964, at the height of Beatlemania and the British Invasion.

The British Invasion also spelled the end of a lot of pop artists who would never recover.
