Of course #1 would have made sense to use, but since he's not so bright, he used #2, which to some degree he does have poetic license to do. Like I said, it results in a "mixed metaphor" which is not ideal, but it's better than nothing, and if he actually knew what he was doing, it could even be possibly considered slightly clever. In actuality it was just a brute force "best thing I had available at the time" response which, though again not ideal, IMO got the job done. |
