Why just one? I can't think of a reasonable argument for banning polygamous marriages as long as all parties are entirely consenting— if three people want to get married, why not? If a fourth person wants to join the marriage and all three existing spouses are OK with that, what basis do we have for not allowing it?Hell, as long as they're both properly consenting and don't reproduce, I can't think of an argument for banning incestuous marriage. If "that's nasty" were an argument, we'd have to ban gay people from marrying along with old people and ugly people. |
