Until your post, I had never heard of Francis Cardinal George, nor of the office that he's held.*

And in any event, do you even know what condolences are? To whom should I be giving these condolences? To you? So again I ask, was Cardinal George a friend or relative of yours? Why are you grief-stricken at his death? Should I troll the death records of the Cook County Clerk (or equivalent officer) and then express my condolences to you for all the people living in Chicago who have recently died, lest you consider me classless for failing to condole with you for the death of random people neither of us have ever heard of?

*I've never read or seen anything directly related to the office of Archbishop of Chicago and have never had reason to think of the Catholic hierarchy in or near Chicago, so I can't say as I was ever aware of the Archbishop of Chicago even though its existence is largely self-evident.
