Not to mention that he reserves the right to himself to say things and not mean them literally.Um, everyone on the planet has the right to use non-literal language. Metaphors, satire, sarcasm, synecdoches, idioms, and general figures of speech have been part of language and culture since we had a language and a culture. Most people understand language— a few people have trouble with the complexities (often due to conditions like autism) and many of them seem to congregate here (because perhaps the stereotype of the autistic railfan has a bit of truth to it). Are you on the spectrum, AlM? So if he can defend things he's written on the grounds that he didn't mean them literally, how can he possibly legitimately attack Dave for anything he's posted? This doesn't actually mean anything, so I suppose it's another glaring logical failure on your part. It looks like you're trying to say something along the lines of: Because I'm not capable of understanding complexity, I interpret everything at its most literal face value. Since the idea of a statement having a non-literal and yet plainly understood meaning is beyond my comprehension, I assume that Nilet is claiming his posts have no plain meaning and therefore he has no basis for attacking Dave. However, as noted, I tend to assume the best of people. So would you perhaps like to clarify what you were trying to say? |
