Coltrane was recorded several times by Van Gelder on Blue Note, and then I believe later during the 1960's on Impulse.

the album "Blue Trane" on Blue Note is classic - if you only have one Blue Note Coltrane album this is the one to get. Maybe you already have it?

If not pick it up, asap, you will not be disappointed!! - and that's an understatement!! :)

Rudy Van Gelder's original studio was in Hackensack, NJ at this parents' house - many 1950s Blue Note sessions were recorded here.

Later for the classic 60s Blue Note sessions and other he recorded, he had a newer and more elaborate studio built in Englewood Cliffs, NJ

He is known for his classic sound - very "live" drums and a round and full sound for the horns...

I will email you shortly with some more recording info for Coltrane's Blue Note sessions.
