yes. I agree back! :)

I had a couple/ several of the RVG's on CD. They were pretty good, and if I'm remembering the right re-issue series (there was more than one Blue Note "up-grade" re-issue series IIRC) the updated liner notes were informative.

Try and find: Andrew Hill - Point of Departure - includes Joe Henderson, Eric Dolphy, (saxes), Kenny Dorham (trumpet) Richard Davis (bass), Tony Williams - drums
- this is a high energy album of music, at a "roiling" level - not avant garde outside stuff, but 60's progressive "hard bop and beyond" style - that has energy like waves crashing over a sea wall.
- I love this album!!

Two other albums (at least) in the same high energy type of matierial are Art Blakey albums: "Free for All" and "Mosaic"
Dynamite! You have to get them.

For early hard bop/ late 40s bop (among other) - get Blue Note releases: 1) Miles Davis, volume 1 and volume 2 the music for these two sessions have been re-sequenced chronologically. 2) Fats Navarro volume 1 and volume 2 - same: music tracks re-ordered by session date.

I've been listening actively to jazz since about mid 1970. I'm 64 (still can't believe it). After all these years, it's nice to know a lot of stuff about jazz and be able to pass it on to others. And, still, I'm convinced I've just scratched the surface, and still have a lot more to learn.....

music is the doorway to happiness (one of them anyway), another is of course, learning about the subway system...

Hope these recommendations are helpful. You live on the west coast?
Do you shop at Amoeba records?
best, Express Rider
