On the other hand, passing right to right meant that, if your sword were sheathed (which it would usually be, as swords are heavy), you could extend your sword hand as a gesture that you were seriously not going to attack because here is the hand that would be used (this is where handshakes come from), if you showed your left hand, you could still pull your right hand out and attack backhanded.It seems that until the modern era, driving on the left was more common. |
