I think you should have responded in English to Gamera.Whatevs. Most people would tend to appreciate at least some minimal effort to respond in kind. If you respond to me in Icelandic and I am in Iceland, I would have already made the effort to learn how to say "I speak English" in Icelandic and would respond with that. In the US, I assume people will speak to me in English (though that isn't to say that I never switch to foreign languages in appropriate circumstances). What if you're on an online message board where nationality becomes a meaningless distinction? Travel to Israel is probably about to get pretty cheap again, you can thank your friends in Gaza for that. Who are these supposed "friends" I have in Gaza? Unless they're willing to pay for part of the trip and/or cover for me while I'm away, I doubt it's feasible. And the Flexliners are awesome. OK, allow me to correct my previous statement: Israel doesn't have the best trains of all the countries I can readily travel to. Give me a billion dollars, and Israel would be the seventh country I visit. (Second country if Syria gets its shit together; third if Sudan gets its shit together as well.) |
