I use: (that is, I use them when I'm not doing homework, which is the majority of the time. Then, I use WordPerfect 9.)Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (6.0 and 9.0, respectively), Autodesk 3dsmax (4.0), Macromedia Flash (4.0). I got them all free from a coworker of my father whose brother is a graphics designer, who upgraded his products. The SVG apps I've seen for *nix are nowhere near the quality of Illustrator. GIMP has approximately 1/5th the power of Photoshop. I don't know anyone who's upgrading Maya (the only 3D app. I know of for *nix), as I can't afford $4,000 for the program :-).
