For some reason I thought whoever decides the routing for these flights routed them that way is because they don't want a flight that long to fly over the Pacific and get a mechanical problem while its in the middle of the ocean, and there's no land mass close enough for the plane to make a emergency landing. I just checked Flightaware and LAX - Tokyo flights take the same routing. |
