The Citi Bikes are interesting; I think the program has promise if they iron out the kinks. I always leave the bike on 3rd gear; as I own an 18-speed bike often set to the highest speed (3 front x 6 rear), I've little use for the lower settings.

Favorite path so far on CitiBike: via 9 Ave southbound; that bike path eventually cuts across Bleecker St to the Bowery, where you can go north or south. I typically navigate my way to the Chrystie St paths from there.

Of course, the Hudson River greenway is my fave, but CitiBike doesn't give one enough time to truly enjoy it IMHO...
