Right now the bus is just running "light" on Manhattanville routes with a new bus procurement employee collecting data with a laptop hooked up to the buses computer. The bus still has no farebox or radio installed. Hopefully on Monday I can get some pictures of the bus and email them to someone in here to post them. I saw the bus this morning but weekday mornings I have to many pullouts to cover and have no time to take any pics. Monday's once I make 5Pm service I have some time to chill a little and maybe I can find the bus parked in the depot. |

I never really thought the RTS was pretty. Its design was very functional and very tough. I loved the RTS and I really liked driving them. Its the best bus NYC transit had for a generation.I think the Grumman/Flexible was a real pretty design, especially for its time. |

I agree, the RTS design is purely functional, honestly no different than that of the Orion VII.I actually favor the Orion V's design slightly better than that of the RTS, but I guess that's what I happens when you live in Staten (Orion V) Island. |

Thanks for taking the great deal of time to hunt it down.I don't care what people say, I actually like this bus. The headlights (and fake front grille) look like cheap afterthoughts in an era when stylized headlights play a big part in front end design. There is absolutely NO excuse for that. And the rear end looks like the designer feel asleep while doodling and then drooled all over the paper. And then they built the resulting sloppy gooey mess! WTF?!?!!?!? but it's miles ahead of the old Orion VII. I hate the extremely boxy side windows of the VII. But the VII's front and rear ends don't have any gross stylistic mistakes, no matter how plain and boring they are. |

LOL, the RTS design is not just purely functional!!!!!! It is a nice looking bus, and I expect that a lot of time and car was spent designing the exterior. |

WTF?!?!!?!?The taillights I have no problem with -- but the asymmetrical vent grille looks terrible, I agree. Time for a redesign. I hate the extremely boxy side windows of the VII. But the VII's front and rear ends don't have any gross stylistic mistakes, no matter how plain and boring they are. The old VII's front looked like it was cut off from an Orion V bus and slapped onto the VII without any regard for aesthetics at all. The front was nice -- but it wasn't congruous at all. The new front looks a bit more congruous with the rest of the bus -- the old VII rear end should have been largely kept the same, though. |

First of all I would like to say thanks a lot for dedicating your time on shooting these buses and they are very nice photos. I was just thinking though shouldn't the reverse lights be a little bigger? Thanks |

The way the front glass turned inward was much better than the Flexible triangler glass, or fishbowl because it reflected light downward enabling the operator to see better at night with the interior lights on.Also, the first RTS's had a triangler back side which was modified later to improve the A/C unit. It was the first bus to have fiberglass panels that would break easy but also didn't dent easily and were easily replaceable cutting down on down time for repairs. They made the bus much lighter also. The RTS was a very functional city bus. I don't think it was pretty but the design was extremely functional and economic |

Should have brought my camera today! The bus was parked almost all morning on my floor. I got a chance to get in and see everything. The climate control is like a cars, you can choose between auto, heat, cool and vent. Also there is no crowd control door for the operator, but I'm sue these are only a few things that NYC transit will change with an order if decided upon. |

Hopefully, NYC will stick with the original design. Even though it is an ugly, boxy and plain looking design, it sure as heck beats that RV style design. |

I have accepted it. The current design that is. In fact, I rode 2 of them yesterday on the Q19: 3604 and 3610.Since the RTS is now dead (except for the ones that are currently running) Orion is the only other local bus manufacturer that the MTA can go with. MCI for the Express-I have nothing negative to say about them because I like those buses. |
