Per a Public Service Commission order dated August 24, service is restored on the Bx-5 - Eastern (later Bruckner) Boulevard line. It had been suspended on orders from the U.S. Office of Defense Transportation (ODT) since the spring.

Service is inaugurated on a new bus route, designated M12. It travels north on West Street and 12th Avenue and south on 11th Avenue, terminating north on Columbus Circle at 58th Street and Broadway and south on Abingdon Square at Eighth Avenue and Jane Street.
(The route designation is a recycling of a number previously used for the old Spring and Delancey Streets line which had been discontinued on October 26, 1979.)
