Interesting to see that it is not an issue with performance of the battery energy/drive system which is new technology, and appears to be good old "how to build a bus" stuff. As a new manufacturer, these kind of events can make or break your future. Let's see how they respond.... |

Guess they should've strung up some wire and maybe added some tracks.Yeah, it has nothing to do with cracks. But the Iron Horse doesn't crack that easily. |

The spokesperson said SEPTA believed the issues would be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. Although Busch declined to reveal the issue that caused the agency to remove the buses from service, multiple agency sources blamed a defect in the buses’ plastic chassis that led to a cracking problem. It does say "plastic chassis", must be some"not so miracle" plastic!! :(:(:( |

I don't know SEPTA too well, but Proterra did make some changes to the Catalyst E-bus and introduced an updated model. I don't know if the new model uses the same composite body shell, or even if those are the ones that SEPTA received, but as far as I know, the old ones were pretty rugged. But like anything, you can build something well for a long time, and all of a sudden something changes and things go south. |
