But this isn't an interchange (i.e. no signs for the GCP) and if you have a 50/50 shot, you'd go in the direction that stays closer to the highway you're looking to get on. |

My opinion is that anyone who knows they want the GCP will know that the BQE branches off and to avoid any ramp to it. |

No the road does not go straight ahead. It is a ramp that goes up and turns left so if you never traveled that way before, you have no idea where that road leads. It could very well be the entrance to the Marine Terminal. As for the BQE sign, it is merely a small directional sign telling you to bear right if you want the BQE with no indication that you are about to approach the entrance to the BQE. It could be a mile away. After you make the turn, the left part of the road leads to the BQE with no indication where the right half of the road goes. Worse yet, the following BQE sign letting you know the ramp on the left leads to the BQE is on the opposite side of the roadway on the right and is non reflective and posted in a dark location not near a street lamp making it completely invisible at night. It is a very dangerous and confusing point that needs immediate correction. I have been traveling this way for nine years and it has been this way. I was very confused on my first trip. To think DOT has no staff that routinely travels the roads to spot this type of problem which they should have found in nine years, is unthinkable and that they only rely on complaints. I have never reported this because I have no faith they would correct it because they once stopped me in the street and gave me a survey to fill out. After I completed it, I listed about a dozen dangerous conditions on the reverse side and none were ever corrected. Another time I sent them a letter telling them they needed to repaint some lines where dual left turn lanes led into a sinlgle lane. I had to send the same letter three times until they understood the problem, then wait three years from 2003 to 2006 for them to finally correct the problem. Now the lines need to be repainted again, and of course they are not doing it. |

My point is that it would have been clearer if it said "Atlantic City Expressaway Entrance Only" rather than EXIT ONLY because you are ENTERING the expressway, not exiting from it. It is dumb to emphasize that you are exiting from a local street with intersections every 200 feet, since that is rarely if ever done.Tell me what would be the harm if it said ENTRANCE ONLY instead of EXIT ONLY. I think it would be much clearer for drivers looking for the expressway. |

No, Astoria Blvd South never splits. It is one continuous road which has some left and right exits and is considered to be Astoria Blvd. And the majority on Astoria Blvd do not use the GCP - - they continue on Astoria Blvd or to LGA Marine Air Terminal via. 23rd Ave (there is no left turn from Astoria Blvd onto northbound 82nd Street or use the BQE from the Western entrance. |

There are signs which are wrong or head scratchers.1. On southbound Meeker Ave, there are right turns allowed only onto westbound Metropolitan Ave - - next to the All Traffic ====> sign (right turn only) there was a green information sign showing Metropolitan Ave <=== East / West ====> Thankfully that sign was changed as you cannot turn left onto eastbound Metropolitan Ave 2. On West 207th Street under 10 Ave IRT 1 train in Inwood, there are two height postings, one 11' and the other 12'. 3. One takes the cake, right on Ericsson Place at Hudson Street is a green sign pointing to the Holland Tunnel "Entrance" and Hudson Street as right turns. But the sign is facing the wrong way (you look at it while facing west when Ericsson Place is one way eastbound towards the 1st Precinct) while the directions will take you to the Holland Tunnel exit loop!!! Go figure. |

Not is you have a phone and use GPS.That solves every problem you have with signs - - the GPS and Google Maps will tell you by voice directions which lane you should be on and where you should enter or exit. Problem solved. |

I've been going about the DC region for my entire life and do not recall a time when signs on the DC side of the Potomac were labeled by bridge. The only exception I can think of is the Memorial Bridge, which is also the only Potomac River crossing in the DC area to not be a numbered highway of some sort, and even then the signs all say "MEMORIAL BRIDGE/DC" or "MEMORIAL BRIDGE/VA". |

So forget needing a sign for the GCP, if anything, since I can see how the spot could be tricky, there should be a sign that makes clear that Astoria Blvd is the left-hand fork.I would agree that the straight-ahead sign should say Astoria Blvd. rather than Marine Air Terminal. Marine Air Terminal is only one of many destinations you reach by going straight ahead and should really not be singled out. The sign vaguely implies that the rest of LGA would be to the right, since they singled out Marine Air Terminal as being straight ahead. |

Looking at Street View on C St SW as you travel west on the block from 12 St SW to 14 St SW, all I see as you get toward the end of the block is a left-turn-only sign for the left lane. If you make that left turn you pretty much inexorably end up in Virginia. It probably would be nice if they made that clear. |
