For that Bay Ridge - JFK route, I wonder why they just don't do it via the Belt Parkway and have stops along the highway like the 171 in NJ does...They could rebuild the bridges to hold buses. As for the B41 SBS... I can see the TA cutting the Downtown BK-Junction portion of the 103 if that came to be. Some of them are so random though, M11 and B54? I know the b54 has good ridership but WOW, shocked they would choose that route over the B38. |

Im pretty sure it's not running non-stop on Belt Parkway more like...A. B1 to B6 to B15 route B. B1 to B82 to B15 route or C. B8 to B6 to B15 route |

They are not proposing the Belt Parkway because they can't get federal money for that although it woud make a ell of a lot more sense. |

MTA procedure. First develop routes then seek public comments and only ake minimal changes to your already decided upon routes regardless of what anyone else wants. As far as the SBS to JFK, they are proposing 86 St (a disaster under the el) then Bay Parkway, Avenue P, Kings Highway, then B82 route to JFK. |

The el does not have to be a disaster at all. Move parking off the curb to between the support columns. Make the interior lanes a bus lane and the exterior lanes regular traffic. Allow buses to cross the center line to pass if needed under the el. |

The Bay Ridge-JFK route could run via the Belt once the new Plumb Beach bridge is built, but to me, it should run via Kings Plaza and Rockaway Parkway before getting back on the Belt by exit 15 (bypassing Spring Creek Towers, but serving Gateway Mall). This could be assigned to JFK Depot to save money. |

Operationally, it could be done though---once all of the bridges are complete. However, I see serving Kings Plaza and Rockaway Parkway as musts. |

Probably something to do with the fact that Myrtle Avenue used to have the elevated. But I'd agree with you that the B38 makes more sense considering it already has a limited and has much higher ridership (around 22,000 vs. 12,000 riders per weekday). Granted, it goes a little deeper into Ridgewood than the B54, but those little segments north of Wyckoff definitely don't bring in 10,000 riders). |

NYMTC (New York Metropolitan Transportation Planning Council) is a glorified "think tank" that just throws out ideas without regard for how to actually implement them. |

Some parking would be lost but that might work. The only problems are that all traffic has to stop whenever someone has to park and it might be dangerous getting out of parked cars. You also would have to ban more left turns to keep traffic moving. I think it would just be a lot easier to put the buses on Bath Avenue under the el instead, without an exclusive lane. Why does it need to be on 86 Street?I wonder what would happen to the B1. Guess it would act as the local. If so, if you have to transfer to the SBS because the stops are too far apart, a third transfer would cost you an extra fare. Something really has to be done about that as we keep adding more SBS routes. |

Definitely. I would aso have the bus exit at Bay Parkway and re enter. Same thing at Ocean Parkway. Could also exit at Knapp and re-enter. Buses could also be allowed to use the shoulder as a bus lane. Woud definitely work and would make a hell of a lot more sense than what they are proposing. Maybe it even could qualify as SBS by using the shoulder. |

They already wasted $6 million on their three year Southwest Brooklyn Transit Investent Study from 2003 to 2006. Zero changes resulted from that study. I went to nearly every meeting. They also admitted that their transportation model was not sophisticated enough to test and plan bus routes but could only be used to recommend general regional changes. The problem is that the MTA is on their Board, and would not let them propose anything they didn't want to do. They insisted that all the bus routing proposals be eliminated from the Final Report as well as any subway extensions or reusing the Bay Ridge LIRR. The only things that were left in were bicycle lanes, truck routes, and an overpass at Kings Plaza, after I recommended an underpass. I still don't see either happening. They are totally useless. Their prime function is to distribute federal funds. |

I would think it would just be for the SBS. It probably wouldn't skip many stops as a crosstown (aside from that, the M31/M57 are only a couple of blocks away anyway), so there would be no need to subject the local to Manhattan traffic. |

Why don't they propose having a combined B54/Q55 SBS route along Myrtle Avenue plus have this SBS route travel to Jamaica, Queens as well via Hillside Avenue then terminate near Sutphin Blvd./Archer Avenue or at a point further east along Archer avenue in Jamaica. The B54 local route should also be extended to Cypress Hils Street/Myrtle Avenue terminating near the Stop & Shop Supermarket. This also would provide transfer to the B20 route at Fresh Pond Road. The Q55 local routeshould also be extndeded to Jamaica as well. |

I like route C the best because it has the bus pass a few hospitals along 7th avenue and Cropsey Avenue in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Hope this route will be able to stop at Cross Bay Blvd. for transfer to the Q52/Q53 Limited & Q41 & Q21 local routes. |

Every part that is being rebuilt including the bridges has a wide shoulder wide enough for traffic or it could easily be widened by a coupe of feet. Granted that some parts like the elevated portion would still lack a shoulder. |

NONSENSE. I drove along Myrtle Avenue many times from Richmond Hill to Ridgewood and never noticed any congestion only a little congestion west of Fresh Pond Road at certain times. I found much more traffic & congestion driving along Metropolitan Avenue especially between 80th Street and Flushing Avenue. |
