There also needs to be a stop built near the Home Depot for the B83 back into East New York...as it is, customers have to walk back to JCPenney to catch the B83. |

Here's what I posted yesterday about Gateway :Re: Gateway Mall Extension You're SOL if if you want the Site Drive or the Junction bound B83 @ Erskine. The Site Drive stops was apparently scrapped & the Erskine Street/Gateway Drive stop Junction bound is missing. Yet, you can track buses at these physically nonexistent stops [marquee]You both had one job each. Fucking D-minus DOT & MTA[/marquee] ------- What I want to say now: I must say the new side is very nice (despite the fact it started raining when I got there), it's a sharp contrast to the other side. That open space where the clock is, If the project is to plans, will be a walking path to go between Gateway I & II. However, I'm still going to say that nixing of the Site Drive stops was very disappointing. In fact, people are complaining that none of the routes are running inside the mall. Is it even possible to have any of the routes run inside? And, as I think more about this, this change basically brought a existing (and still a) problem to the other side. I was very lucky to have a B83 op know that a stop is supposed to be at Erskine back towards Starrett. Picked me up right before he turned. |

The whole Gateway Center mall is big. It needs lots of benches and some shade since it is a long walk between the stores. The bus terminal needs to be bigger and get some routes extended in the mall like B60, B82, B103, etc. |

Those routes are all long enough as is. I can agree with the idea that an additional route is needed coming from the west, but I don't think it should be any one of those three. |

I think the best solution is to either create:(1) B 104 as mention (possibly for 24 hour service between Williams Av and Brooklyn College) or/and (2)extend the B 84 to Canarsie - Rockaway Pky Sta. The B 84 can still serve its purpose for Gateway community, the route will still be the same except it would extend along Gateway Dr, with a stop nearby the terminal. From there it would leave from Schenck Av entrance run via Flatlands Av, E 98 St, Glenwood Rd, and termainate at the B 17 stop on Glenwood/Rockaway Pkwy. This terminal would be tempoary for future extention to E 80 St (B 17 terminal), as once proposed a few years back. Also extend that routes hours and headways. I still don't see why this route would have any success if that don't change. |

I agree with you 100 percent but the new Gateway Terminal can only accomodate three routes so if any route is extended from the west such as the B60, B82, B103 etc. my guess is these routes would just stop near the new Gateway Terminal along Gateway Drive but terminate further east at the Brooklyn Developmental Center which needs additional direct bus service. Once Vandalia Avenue is opened up possibly the B6 can also be rerouted slightly from Schenck Avenue/Cozine Avenue to take Schenck Avenue into Gateway Drive but only up to Vandalia Avenue then to Elton Street back to Cozine Avenue then to Ashford Street tyhen to New Lots Avenue. A B6 stop along Vandalia Avenue near to the B13, B83 & Q8 Gateway Terminal would provide a walking transfer between the B6 and the B13/Q8/B83 routes. |

The Brooklyn Developmental Center is closing at the end of 2015. Now, it could be used for layover for now, but after next year, there will be nothing there, and it is likely that Fountain Avenue could be terminated at Vandalia Avenue (and Seaview Avenue east of Erskine could also be permanently closed). If a route is extended from the west, it would likely have to terminate close to the Spring Creek Depot. |

If this were to happen the state would need to do something with the property, where bus service might still be needed there? From news articles I just read many people are against this. |
