Your question is a little vague, but here's what I remember:Green Bus ran a special World's Fair bus from Rego Park to the fair (25 cents, when the regular fare was 15 cents). The buses were the newest in the fleet. Triboro Bus ran a special bus from Forest Hills to the fair via 108 St. The buses I saw were their oldest, and had very few riders. I recall that there were also special buses from Brooklyn, but I don't know any details. There was a bus "depot" on 111 St near the Terrace on the Park. |

Was there any other special routes over the years, I seen a sign on eBay reading an X61 and I remember an X80 and 81 being an event special as well. In response to another post of yours a buddy of mine does the same thing logs his bus numbers run start times he's been around 30 years. |

The X80 still exists, it runs from Lexington Avenue and 125th Street, via 124th Street and the Triboro to Randall's Island. On the way back it runs via 126th Street. It runs out of 126th Street. That's for concerts and events at Randall's. The X81 no longer runs, it ran from Woodside to Randall's. |

We took that Flatbush/Nostrand B80 to the WF in 1964. TA was so cheap they didn't even buy air-conditioned buses for a special service. Took forever to get to the Worlds Fair. Was the fare $1? |

Queens Transit ran a shuttle route from Main & Roosevelt in Flushing to World's Fair Rodman Gate on Rodman St (now College Point Blvd.).The new 5302's (106-110) in all orange were used. Destination read "World's Fair" -no route no. Fare was 15 cents. |

Greyhound ran fishbowls clockwise and counterclockwise around the perimeter of the grounds passing each of the 8 admission gates and making 35 stops around the fair the fare was 25c for one stop or a complete roundtrip ride. there were also glide a ride tractor trains, escorter single tractor tour vehicles and glass domed a/c buses for recorded lectures points of interest and grand tours. All these depending on what you wanted had various costs and lengths of time to see the fair. Greyhound operated 300 vehicles housed at the Greyhound pavilion which also had a Greyhound Company exhibit. Greyhound was located in the transportation area by the west drive below the Grand central pkwy boarded by the L.I.E. |

Queens Transit also ran parking lot shuttles from the huge, but remote parking lot on the Whitestone Expwy near Linden Pl (now the site of the NY Times printing plant) to the fairgrounds. Service was free (included in the parking fee). QT used old 5106's for the service. |

I'll tell you I missed driving the old looks by 3 years but did shift it around the depot when we had it parked there, Mack 6259 mainly at flatbus but I drove every style of GM new look every style of Flexible new look and the first series of RTS delivered to Flatbush 1200's, 1300's, 1400's and PA 1600's. I wouldn't trade it for anything and it was a great time to drive and work. I can go on and on but I hope you get my drift. |

I have driven a PSNJ old look, and I thought I wouldn't like it, but i loved it. Taking it from Howell to Lakewood was a dream. When I worked at Academy I drove some ex-17 & 1800, 2600's in service and enjoyed every minute of it. Wish I could have one. I would today take Fishowl down %th & up Madison over an MCI, no power steering and all. It required better judgemnt & skill to get the job done IMO. Me I'm just a day late to the good times:( |

The brand new Flxible that my mother and I rode to the Fair in the spring of 1964 just had the headsign turned to blank. Maybe that sign wasn't available yet. We did return to the Fair shortly before it closed in 1965, but that time we went by train (3 from Sterling St to Times Square, then 7 WF Super Express to the Fair. Coming home, I think it was a regular local 7 and then the 3. |

The buses that left from Nostrand and Flatbush Ave didn't.
