Interesting that the Nova LFS artics have a higher reliability so far than the NFI Xcelsior artics.

Look at what depots the NFI Xcelsior buses operate out of...

They should have gave 30 to Quill so at least they would have a chance to operate out of the depot that takes good care of their buses.

The MTA is also the first customer of Xcelsior diesel artics. Other than them, I know of RGRTA and two California properties with them.

690 buses award contract maybe schedule in around October/November timeframe.

MTA acknowledge that they are behind schedule for fleet replacement. They are still analyze the proposals by the manufactures.

They will speed up the procurements after awarding 690 bus order contract

MTA reiterated over again, they will not be buying diesel-electric hybrids buses in the future. So that DesignLine bus back in 2009 looks to be last order for MTA and was cancelled.

All 488 New Flyer C40LF buses MDBF average: 12,429 miles

All Orion VII CNG MDBF average: 3,700 miles.

MTA really wants Orion VII CNG buses to GTFO during the 2015-2019 Capital Program fleet replacement.

The New Flyer D60HF performance just plain sucks. The MDBF is 2,200 mile range.

The new 256 articulated bus order will replace the rest of the remaining D60HF fleet.

Xcelsiors in general just plain suck, the bus is all looks but can't prove itself when it comes to performance.

Not to mention we've had Nova LFS Artics since 2009 and they're still performing better than the 90 Xcelsior Artics that MTA has just received a few months ago.

NOT TRUE.

The Nova LFS artic did experience in-service failures and other mechanical problems.

Last year was MDBF 5,509 miles, lower then expected.

Nova Bus did provide free support services to MTA at no cost just to improve the bus performances, hence higher MDBF.

Typical growing pains for new buses.

Sure. Lynx already has four D60s from Metro Transit in Minnesota. They would love to have more. After these Novas we have go into service it's unlikely we are going to buy any new ones until 2022, so it's going to be used artics from now on.

Depending on how long the tanks are certified for, I think that this issue could be forced sooner than later---I could see a bid for replacements as soon as 2015, with an award of a contract in early 2016. (The new C40LFs, by contrast, have tanks certified for 20 years---ensuring that the tanks should outlast the bus.)

If it helps, the 40' Xcelsiors have the most vendor trips compared to the Orion Third Gens which are the least problematic. The only issue is I wish they were a little faster at takeoff but other than that I like them.

Fine, then show me the proof of your currently unsubstantiated allegations. I want hard data not personal bias

Okay, first of, it's Orion VII 3G, not Orion 3G.

It's actually just Orion VII. Third Generation and 3G are made up busfan terms.

Your expecting a guy who got banned twice from another transit site to give you actual proof of something? I doubt he's going to do so, cause he wasn't capable of doing that on the NYC Transit Forums anyway.

The Fleet YTD MDBF=6,848 miles for the XD60s vs. the LFSAs which the fleet MDBF=7,228 miles. I believe the XD40s have a similar MDBF.
