Select Bus Service S90 (S40)

The proposed north shore busway for Staten Island details a plan for brand new Select Bus Service between St. George, Arlington and Teleport. The two Select Bus Service routes include the "S1" to Teleport running express between St George and Port Richmond. The "S2" makes all stops between St. George and Arlington.

A Select Bus Service for the S40 and S90 along Richmond Terrace would be not only cheaper but have the same effect as the expansive busway plan. Two differences from the north shore busway plan would have the S90 making all limited/Select stops from Goethals Road and local riders would still have the S40. The "S1/S2" would eliminate S40 local service. What are your thoughts on this?

Richmond Terrace is pretty tight. Passing might be an issue for an SBS line there. I see zero reason for rail unless it is regional service to NJ.

I disagree, the S90 is run very efficiently for the small period of time that it is running. The Select Bus Service would only be able to run as often as the ferry runs so that gives the bus enough time to travel. I don't see any S90 or S1/S2 receiving artics just 40-footers with decals. A Select Bus Service S90 service would definitely take riders from all nearby lines and add new riders to the line if it were to exist.
