I would assume that because from what i know Suffolk doesn't get any money from the MTA to run Suffolk Transit.

Suffolk Transit is funded by 1) Suffolk County, 2) Fares, and 3) State transit funds (or something like that)

Its been well documented that in the past that Nassau gets more money from the state then Suffolk does for their bus system.

I have no idea how its figured out, i just know Suffolk claims to get less then Nassau. I believe they said that its just a tad more then they get back in fares, or less then they get back in fares. (i'm not exactly sure since the claim was made five or six years ago i believe)

If those LIB CNG buses were to have been moved to places like JG, I think they would've been reseated. So that wouldn't be a big issue.

There is a federal law that may kick in & force the new operator to "hire" the existing employees, at their current pay rates for three years. It's an old law that came into being when there were a lot of mergers of railroads in the US going on.
It applied to MTA Bus Co., i.e. the result of the "privates" going away.

According to the National Transit Database for 2009, MSBA gets 44 percent of its operating funds from the State ($59.6M) and 31 percent from fare revenue ($42.9M). Suffolk gets 42 percent of its operating funds from the State ($21.9M) and 15 percent from the farebox ($7.6M).

Suffolk did get significantly less State assistance in 2004 (29% State/20% farebox) versus MSBA (42% State/36% farebox).

The old Section 13c (now called something more interesting) does not apply to private operators. That law was in place to protect employees of private carriers from being dumped by the public sector.

Then it seems to me that Nassau is simply wasting its time asking the MTA for a cut of the payroll tax. As I said, if Nassau somehow gets its way on this issue, watch for Westchester, Suffolk, Rockland, and Dutchess to demand the same thing.

Considering the economic state of affairs in Albany, this can't bode well at all.

Do you know which ones are there now? I have 1885-1890 and 1893 listed. They "had" 1924, as you see here:

Up until last week when I saw it here:

LIB also had 1922 and 1927. Both buses appear to be off of the roster.

Have A Nice Day!
