I find this completely unnecessary for several reasons. Instead of worrying about the numbering they should be looking at how much money they waste having 4 GO QM1As leave 36/6 @5:05, 2 at 5:10 and a 5:12 when the Super Express is the only bus that will get SRO'd.The QM1 simply needs to be cut because nearly all the QM1As to/from Glen Oaks serve Fresh Meadows (even buses that dont say via Fresh Meadows end up making the stops). At that point you renumber the G/O bus the QM1 and the NST bus the QM5. As for the Downtown routes, does the fact that the bus is serving another part of Manhattan really mean the route needs a different number when it makes the same pick up and drop offs and Queens? This isn't like the QM10/QM11 where they make different stops. Its still the same route. |

Unlike GH and 126st there is no 40ft bus order for 2010. MTA only caters to Manhattan, while dumping all the old crap to Brooklyn and Queens. MTA doesn't know how to balance the average age. There's no reason to send the oldest buses to my area. |

If the MTA is smart while the Sky View Parc is still under construction they could speak to the developer to make a bus terminal/ layup/ crew change area fo not only the Q58 but other bus routes. It would be a win win for both the developer and the MTA. A proper layover area for buses, a proper terminal so that bus drivers can eat and use restrooms. Also the people win as well with direct service to the Mall. |

I would suggest rerouting of the Q58/Q58 Limited east of Corona Avenue/108th Street to instead travel along 51st Avenue(S/B)/52nd Avenue(N/B) to 111th Street. I would then have the Q58/Q58 Lmited travel along 111th Street between 51st Avenue(S/B)/ 52nd Avenue (N/B)to Roosevelt Avenue and have the Q58/Q58 Limited travel along Roosevelt Avenue between 111th Street and College Point Blvd. At College Point Blvd. the Q58/Q58 Lmited would travel to 41st Road(N/B)/ Sanford Avenue(S/B) to/from Main Street. Limited stops would be placed at 51st Avenue(S/B)/108th Street, 52nd Avenue(N/B)/108th Street, 51st Avenue(S/B)/111th Street(Terrace On The Park & Queens Zoo), 52nd Avenue(N/B)/111th Street(Terrace On The Park & Queens Zoo), 47th Avenue/111th Street(New York Hall Of Science), 111th Street/Roosevelt Avenue(IRT #7 Subway Line), CitiField/Willets Point, and 41st Road/Main Street. I would then suggest that MTA Bus extend the Q38 route from 110th Streeet/62nd Drive to 41st Road/Main Street, Flushing via 108th Street, Horace Harding Expressway, College Point Blvd., 41st Road(N/B)/Sanford Avenue(S/B) to/from Main Street. |

Its difficult to extend the Corona (Eliot Avenue) Branch to Flushing in the eastbound direction because the streets are all one way traveling westbound from Otis Avenue making it difficult to access 108th Street. This could be done if the Q29 replaces that Q38 Corona Otis Avenue service and then the Q38 could operate on the Horace Harding Expressway between Woodhaven Blvd. and 108th Street. The Q11 would then have be extnded to Elmhurst via current Q29 routing. I'll try to re write my Q58 suggestion so it's more understandable. |

CORRECTED TYPOS: I would suggest rerouting of the Q58/Q58 Limited east of Corona Avenue/108th Street to instead travel along 51st Avenue(S/B)/52nd Avenue(N/B) between 108th Street and 111th Street in Corona. I would then have the Q58/Q58 Limited travel along 111th Street between 51st Avenue(S/B)/52nd Avenue(N/B) and Roosevelt Avenue and have the Q58/Q58 Limited travel along Roosevelt Avenue between 111th Street and College Point Blvd. At College Point Blvd. the Q58/Q58 Limited would travel to 41st Road(N/B)/Sanford Avenue(S/B) to/from Main Street. On the Q58 Lmited route limited stops would be placed at 51st Avenue(S/B)/108th Street, 52nd Avenue(N/B)/108th Street, 51st Avenue(S/B)/111th Street (Terrace On The Park & Queens Zoo), 52nd Avenue(N/B)/111th Street (Terrace On The Park & Queens Zoo), 47th Avenue/111th Street(New York Hall Of Science), 111th Street/Roosevelt Avenue (IRT #7 Subway Line), CitiField/ at Willets Point, and 41st Road/Main Street.I would then suggest that MTA Bus extend the Q38 route from 110th Streeet/62nd Drive to 41st Road/Main Street, Flushing via 108th Street, Horace Harding Expressway, College Point Blvd., 41st Road(N/B)/Sanford Avenue(S/B) to/from Main Street. The Q38 route could replace Q58 bus service along a major stretch of College Point Blvd. so that the Q58 route could serve more key locations further increase ridership on that route. The Q38 route extension to Flushing would provide easier access for Middle Village, Rego Park and Forest Hills passengers to access Flushing. |

The only access to the site itself from Roosevelt Av is near the subway tunnel portal, and that is to the parking garage, a structure that has too low of a clearance for buses. A developer would not "waste" valuable frontage on College Point Blvd itself for that type of use, so that leaves only 40 Rd for possible bus use. Perhaps integration could have occurred earlier, but I think it's too late now.The best site for a bus terminal is the municipal garage that is to soon be developed as Flushing Commons. A bus-only ramp (or ramps) from Union St leading to an underground terminal, along with passageways to the subway station (lined, of course, with rent-paying tenants of the development) would have been ideal. |

While I think it is certainly is reasonable to consider whether the Q58 should use either Horace Hording Expwy or Roosevelt Av to cross through the park--there really aren't any other reasonable choices given that Corona Av ends at the park border--once past the park the bus should take a direct path to central Flushing. Were it to use Roosevelt Av it should do so straight down to Main St (essentially the same as the Q48 since the Q58 would then duplicate the Q48 route from Flushing to 111 St). This might require adjusting one or more other routes for the sake of capacity. |

I wanted that for the longest for that area, a truly proper bus-rail terminal, they need one in Jamaica as well. It would reduce congestion immensely, put all the buses under one roof for travelers who need to transfer from bus to bus or bus to rail. It's a pity the MTA won't invest in this, yet invest in ESA or SAS which as they stand are not worth their cost. |

[T]hey need one in Jamaica as well. But it is not as critical in Jamaica. There, six subway stations at or east of Sutphin Blvd allow the buses to be dispersed so that no single intersection bears the brunt of all the traffic. Furthermore, to the extent that a bus terminal reduces the number of bus stands on city streets the 165 Street terminal (and to a lesser extent, the loop south of Archer Av and east of 150 St) accomplishes that goal, even in the absence of a direct connection to any subway station. On the other hand, there is only a single subway station in Flushing, and so everybody is trying to get to Main St & Roosevelt Av. Using 39 Av as a stand for some routes, and keeping Q58 south of the LIRR helps with the traffic flow a bit, but in an ideal transit world all the buses terminating in Flushing would serve Main St & Roosevelt Av through an off-street terminal (I am less enthusiastic about routing through buses into a terminal). It's a pity the MTA won't invest in this. Well structurally, it should probably be the City. The MTA is merely the operator of most all transit service within the City, and it is the City that is supposed to coordinate the provision of the City's transit service among the MTA operations and the other providers of transit. Indeed, most all of the subway infrastructure remains the property of the City, not the MTA. This makes sense politically since the City is accountable to the City's taxpayers, but the MTA is not. As such, the City should be the one responsible for land use determinations, including where bus terminals should be sited. The problem is that the City lacks the competence. At one time the City did have, within its transportation department, a bureau for transit operations that could have (and should have) taken on this role. But with the acquisition of the private bus companies the bureau was largely disbanded; today the only regular oversight of MTA by the City is through its bean-counters, and there really is no overall transit planning by the City. In essence, the Mayor points his finger at MTA for transit issues in order to avoid accountability. |

Yes, your correct I saw on a map that Martense Avenue does travel eastbound although in a northerly direction. That could do the trick as along as the Q38 riders along 60th Avenue don't complain. This would be a boom for Queens and give Brooklyn and Queens passengers another viable option for heading to Citifield Stadium other than the IRT #7 Line!!!
