Did they have a test bus yet for the NG or not yet? That mean Yukon delivery must be complete now. Damn this sucks though that means Flatbush is gonna wait even longer now. |

Well sorry aside from like protesting outside the depot [at risk of getting arrested], there's nothing you can do. MJQ is going to lose them and the MTA really needs to get rid of those old pos 8000-8300's and some of those O5's at JFK. |

Flatbush will have to wait longer but it's not like the NG they have are in bad shape. I honestly think it'd better if they got NG's to the depots that are in need of new buses (BP,KB, UP for example) before worrying about displacing buses from depots that already have ngs |

That is true, the current NG's are fine, but no doubt [for at least the older NG's] the MTA wants to consolodate them over in Manhattan. At least it would allow them to push out the older RTS [sorry 33rd Street] to the other depots to retire those old RTS and O5's. I dunno how hard/easy it is to train mechanics and drivers on how the handle the NG's. So, for now it is probably for the best that the few depots that have the NG's stays NG's and the ones that don't have NG's stick with buses they are familiar with. I mean it's not like those areas must have the NG's.. yet. |

It makes more sense to concentrate the NG's to select depots till even more older RTS/O5's are retired. But I still don't see what sense it makes to send the new batch of NG's to JFK, when it probably makes more sense to send them to LGA directly since they already have some in service. |

However, retraining will be needed as there are differences between the first-generation O7s and the NG O7s (i.e., convex mirrors on both sides of the buses, and a right-side mirror that is two inches farther out). |

Because, as they alread have a few, wouldn't it make more sense to just send them to LGA and send the 8600's to JFK? |

MJQ was fine until 3813 and 3817 was added to MJQ's fleet last October. I shook my head when I saw 3815 on the M21 this afternoon. I wouldn't mind MJQ getting NG's but at the same time, they must keep the 86xx RTS'. |

Ok-1st and foremost-in response to 33rd Street-I think SOME of the 8600s will be staying at MJQ...FOR NOW. MJQ just received 3800-3831 from MHV...enough to displace SOME RTSs elsewhere but NOT ALL. In due time, the FLA 3900s are going to leave there. The reason-batteries. Then you will see the majority of those heading to Manhattan Division to displace even more RTSs...more or less likely eliminating the 8600s.At the same time, MTA Bus only placed an order of 105 Orion VII NGs. I agree they should've ordered some more. But perhaps in due time? I know how you feel about the 8600s-believe me. I like those buses too. I feel the same way about all of this nonsensical shuffling. But it needs to be done...I guess. And at least some of them are getting some extra life in them. |

When the D4500CTs were ordered, that was supposed to essentially demote all of the O5 CNGs to local service. But a 126-bus order became just 40. If it was 126 still, the 1990 TMCs would likely be all gone by now. |

Oh, as far as the delivery...looks like a change was made. Originally, 4140-4169 were supposed to go to SC. Instead, they will be going over to JFK to add more HEV service to the Q10. I see what the TA has in store. The 86xx RTS' that MJQ has made them a fixture in Manhattan. I'm hoping that FLA doesn't get anymore NG's. |
