Part of this is out of date. There are no more pre-1990 RTSes in service. The unrepowered (6v92 engine powered) 8000 series RTSes have all been repowered to DD50 engines with the exception of a few (which are being scrapped, sent to storage). |

It was around midday. The Route Designator was a PAPER. I guess - the electronic indicator of 317 was not prepared to indicate B9. |

I can't answer for Brooklyn and Queens, but I believe the drivers at the two Staten Island depots did not want NFI D60HFs.They seem to like the Orion 5s and RTSes (as well as the express MCI coaches) |

Looking on some Brooklyn Road.. |

I guess that Artics are the lasts thing - To make them Totaly unbearable.Yet, the artics are the excellent solution for such problems as ever-crowded B36. However B36 makes turns, especially around Sheepshead Bay station. In Manhattan artics run along "straing lines" such as M23, M79, etc. I've never seen Artics turning from 23rd to Broadway. It would be Impossible. |

Actually, it wouldn't be impossible.Artics can make some pretty tight turns, you just need a good operator. Case in point, the M15 stop at the ferry when it turns onto Whitehall Street. |

I can now walk faster than the M79 depending upon where I am going. Also, artics have a smaller turning radius than standard buses. |
