Even thought I live in ew York for a long while, I cant remember by heart all the bus numbers. I mentioned of course some obvious things. Such as: 510-699 CNG Orion V, 8**-9** CNG Flyer DL 60
In 1992 I saw RTSs numbered like 3260, 4712, etc. Where are they gone? Remember Route B5?

Were there any rebuilt, or renumbered RTSes? BY the way 4742 RTS has new seats installed.

RTSs with white ceiling over the driverseat are older then with a black cieling. Are the RTSs with a black ceiling RTS nova?

What do you know about bus numbering trend in NYC?

Part of this is out of date.

There are no more pre-1990 RTSes in service.

The unrepowered (6v92 engine powered) 8000 series RTSes have all been repowered to DD50 engines with the exception of a few (which are being scrapped, sent to storage).

It was around midday. The Route Designator was a PAPER. I guess - the electronic indicator of 317 was not prepared to indicate B9.

And On January 8, 2000 on Atalntic Avenue (as a substitue for A train) - the only time & saw Artics in Brooklyn.

By the way, why there no artics in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island?

Its previous name was Fifth Avenue Depot, not Sunset Park Depot. NYCT and its predecessors never had a depot called "Sunset Park Depot."

I can't answer for Brooklyn and Queens, but I believe the drivers at the two Staten Island depots did not want NFI D60HFs.

They seem to like the Orion 5s and RTSes (as well as the express MCI coaches)

... I guess that Artics are the lasts thing - To make them Totaly unbearable.

Yet, the artics are the excellent solution for such problems as ever-crowded B36. However B36 makes turns, especially around Sheepshead Bay station.

In Manhattan artics run along "straing lines" such as M23, M79, etc. I've never seen Artics turning from 23rd to Broadway. It would be Impossible.

Actually, it wouldn't be impossible.

Artics can make some pretty tight turns, you just need a good operator.

Case in point, the M15 stop at the ferry when it turns onto Whitehall Street.

Artics cause more problems than they solve. I can now walk faster than the M79 depending upon where I am going.

Also, artics have a smaller turning radius than standard buses.

All NYCT buses carry codes for all routes. Most likely, the sign was broken.
