up to 3842 is all on property bus as of now only up to 3232 are in service. Also 3 are of service for major repairs and 1 has been sent to Secaucus for major body work as it was invloved in a serious accident. Also 2240 MCI is @ Yukon only for service as bus is not allowed in service a rework is being retrofitted on the rear of the bus. It looks terrible right now but hey we need these buses now. Also Yukon 300's will be gone by weeks end only a few are left as of now. On the Novas by system pick time they will all be gone.

SI Buses Will Be: Per G.M. & Union - 09'

3800-3874 @ Castleton 75
6120-6220 @ Castleton 100
4000-4059 @ Castleton - Mid 09'

3875-3924 @ Yukon - 50
6250-6349 @ Yukon - 100

(Pending 2009/2010)

Thanks for the update! I was wondering what was going on here.

It seems that the SI Roster will be fairly solid when all is said and done. All they have to do now is make the buses run on-time (particularly Yukon's buses) and things will be all good again.

*And since June, no one ever figured out the mystery engine/transmission that's still in #6046!

Staten Island absorbed about 90% of them sometime between Sept of 2007 and March 2008. The only other depot outside of Castleton and Yukon to have 1999 O5s is Kingsbridge.

Many remaining 6200's & some misc. 6000 & 6100's will mainly be heading into Manhattan. I do know with the next 18 months the only boroughs to have RTS will be Queens & Brooklyn, as Quill & 126 will both be offset with Orion's. But I also have heard relaible sources that the 99 RTS's will be retired at the end of their 12 year cycle as the mta is not having a more expensive time obtaining parts for these units.

I think it's because that the RTS isn't made anymore and parts are hard to come by. Couldn't the MTA get parts from other states that have retired or are retiring the RTS bus?

The parts are still made by an OEM (Volvo aka Prevost), but not in the volume that allows the prices that the MTA was getting before. However, if the MTA does not immediately move to procuring all buses using 80% federal funds while they can, they will be forced to run those buses an extra 4-5 years.

I'm little skeptical on that, it is unusual on the present time for MTA to retire buses at 12. RTS buses is already surpasses 12 years. They already have a surplus of parts from retired buses. But MCI and Nova still produce parts for RTS buses probably 2012 or so.

Yet MTA starting to replacing green Twinvision replacing with Orange LEDs on that particular group of RTS buses. This is some proof that they going to be service well past by 12th year mark.

If this is true, then why are the 1993/1994/1996 RTS buses still running?

Besides, the RTS could run for another 10-12 years. When they are kept in good condition, they could run like a beast.

As far as I know Yukon will the majority of the new mci's as castleton will be getting their 4315-4329 (re-assigned #'s though)in addition to Yukon 3200's going to Castleton. Main reason being is the heavy workload on the X1-X9. As I said I'm not sure if they found a perm. fix they are testing and moving things around the way it looks no just looks so crappy as their is a steel exhaust line going up through the left rear bumper and all the way up to the roof, they gotta cover it or do something. I will get pics when I go to Yukon next time for a bus move.

I believe thats true as Quill and 126 will be Hybrid by end of 09. I do know Westfarm will be lossing the 400/500's to Quill at system pick time as WestFarm will be getting more CNG's from Gleason, which will be offset by RTS'S that will come from Quill & 126. The MTA wants Bronx/S.I./ Manhattan RTS FREE. I still wonder though the MTA is desperate now for more artics... Espically for Charleston when it open, and KB, G.H. and MTA Bus, and I can't hear anybody speaking about it expect waiting for the Orion X, which I think will be to late & glitchy

Are you saying that JG is going back to RTS? :-O And what would be the fate of my C40LFs? :-(

I would have thought that they'd leave JG alone since it has a balanced roster of few 1995, most 1999 and 2003 buses. JG I would have thought would be the last to get any new deliveries at this point, but also would be the last to get RTSs. Same goes for WF.

The CNGs have become such a fixture in certain JG-dominated sections of Brooklyn, as I have been growing up, that to see them go, even if it takes a few more years, will be saddening.

I was hoping my C40s would stick around until at least 2015 or so. I hope they don't suffer the same fate as the CNG RTSs that MTA took on from the private companies.

MTA Bus is going to takeover everyone. Better start inviting them to your BBQs.

Outcast?!

Keep thinking that as over the next few years your buses start wearing that branding.

Are they planning on sending NGO7's to KB?

I figured MJQ would be getting the WF O5s seeing as 424 is been sent there 3 times already

The roster is distributed and e-mailed to all curent Urban Transit Club members. It's also available at our monthly meetings for only $1 for non-members, free to current members. I did sent an update for September, but it apparantly was not posted.
We have our annual FALL SLIDE AUCTION this Saturday. October is the only meeting that we don't charge a door fee. Contact me if you need directions to our meeting hall.

Wow, I believe you about them wanting Staten Island to be RTS free. The Novas are becoming a rare sight now with all the CAS O5s over at Yukon now.

You're right, I forgot about Gun Hill, but I was actually focusing on the 6200s when I said that.
