But I also have heard relaible sources that the 99 RTS's will be retired at the end of their 12 year cycle as the mta is not having a more expensive time obtaining parts for these units.I'm little skeptical on that, it is unusual on the present time for MTA to retire buses at 12. RTS buses is already surpasses 12 years. They already have a surplus of parts from retired buses. But MCI and Nova still produce parts for RTS buses probably 2012 or so. Yet MTA starting to replacing green Twinvision replacing with Orange LEDs on that particular group of RTS buses. This is some proof that they going to be service well past by 12th year mark. |
