I'll be there but I'm not sure if it will be for 1 of the days or both. I'm also wondering why the roadeo is always at Floyd Bennett Field? I know there's a ton of space there but they only occupy 1 small area and it's as far in the back as you can go-which is about a mile or so. For me, it's a pain in the ass to get to via car or by public transportation. I know because I've done both. Didn't they have it at other locations in previous years? It should be in a more convenient location if you ask me. |

Me too, I was scared to go any faster because the area is patroled by bored state park police.Once they pulled someone over that was right behind me just before you exit at the guard booth. When I lived in New York I was there or at the Wildlife Refuge almost monthly to go birdwatching and unwind. Now that I'm upstate I'm surrounded by birds and nature! But I still go once or twice a year, I love the trails! |

We had a baby bear up here about 7 years ago, never happenned again though.Deer are all over, especially in the winter when they get hungry and eat everyone's evergreens and bushes. My German Shepherd scares them off though! |

It was to run last winter in service. Then suddenly it had signs warning mechanics NOT TO START it. Furthermore, it seems that it has been stripped of some parts. When I last saw it, it was missing a headlight ring, windshield wiper and the GM plate on the front.Hope they fix it as that is one of my favorite museum buses. |

Apparently the location is agreeable to the organizers. The remoteness actually is an asset in that non-employees aren't challenged at the gate. They must figure anyone who could actually find it must be a serious busfan and wouldn't make trouble.The adjacent hangar, with its ancient wartime flying stock and railroad show, is an added attraction. It seemed to be at a different location every year previous: Orchard Beach in '01; South Beach in '00. It may have been at Randall's Island in '98 or '99, which is centrally located but has a built-in cover charge- i.e. toll- no matter where you come from. I stumbled onto it strictly by surprise in Flushing Meadow by the boathouse back in '97 before I had the Internet. Since there's a railfan trip on MN's Harlem Line Saturday, I would likely do the Roadeo on Sunday. At least there are two days to choose from, unlike the Harmon Open House. |

It just so happens that Museum Bus #3758a former NYCTA 1963 GMC 5303 Fishbowl bus was a pretty popular model that was used in the system during the 1960's and 70's. And it was the first GMC to have the front bullet lights! |
