The Roadeo's been at Bennett every year since 2002. Apparently the location is agreeable to the organizers. The remoteness actually is an asset in that non-employees aren't challenged at the gate. They must figure anyone who could actually find it must be a serious busfan and wouldn't make trouble.

The adjacent hangar, with its ancient wartime flying stock and railroad show, is an added attraction.

It seemed to be at a different location every year previous: Orchard Beach in '01; South Beach in '00. It may have been at Randall's Island in '98 or '99, which is centrally located but has a built-in cover charge- i.e. toll- no matter where you come from.

I stumbled onto it strictly by surprise in Flushing Meadow by the boathouse back in '97 before I had the Internet.

Since there's a railfan trip on MN's Harlem Line Saturday, I would likely do the Roadeo on Sunday. At least there are two days to choose from, unlike the Harmon Open House.
