Due to the south service road of the Grand Central Parkway being one way eastbound, northbound Q44 buses had to travel east on the service road and make a U turn at Parsons Boulevard before proceeding west on the north service road and north at Main Street on their way to Flushing. I don't know if Main Street was even completed south of the parkway in those days. Today's Q44SBS continues on Main Street all the way to its end in Briarwood and then uses Queens Boulevard to reach Hillside Avenue in Jamaica. |
