The original name of the Contract 1 station (2,5 trains) was Mott Avenue. Mott Avenue was renamed Grand Concourse in 1927. The Interborough had planned to build a passageway from the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station to a never built station on the New York Central Railroad. Some provision for this passageway were begun built never finished. However for many years there was a tiled sign indicating a connection to New York Central trains. I do not know if it is still there. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
