149 St - Grand Concourse (2,5) Update

I had read that the renovations and elevator installations were complete, so I went to check it out. The work however has not yet been finished, and the areas are still boarded up and inaccessible.

They have, though, removed the old platform-wall station name signs and installed new ones. The ones they removed said "149 St - Grand Concourse", and were long enough to completely cover up the original "Mott Avenue" mosaics.

The new ones say "149 St - Hostos ♿", even though the elevators are not yet in service. They are also shorter in length than the older ones and don't completely cover the "Mott Avenue", so the M and E still show at the edges of the new signs.

I was hoping they would permanently expose the original mosaics and install the new signs underneath, but if they keep them where they are, they should lengthen them to completely cover the old tiles.




The old street-level station house is scheduled to re-open as a station entrance.
