I used quotation marks around the neighborhood name for that very reason. Route Q27 has been referred to traditionally as a route connecting Flushing and Rosewood, while Q26 was franchised as a route connecting Rosewood with Queens Village. The Q26 route connected with the Q27 route at "Rosewood," though it fact it was operated through to Flushing. I have never used "Rosewood" to describe any particular neighborhood, and I do not opine as to what specific area it encompasses.I recall reading some articles that this arrangement allowed Z. & M. Coach Company, Inc., the operator of these routes, to collect two fares for transportation between Flushing and Queens Village, one fare for each of routes Q26 and Q27, and effectively making route Q26 a zoned route. |
