One difficulty could be the amount of seniority possessed by the ONE and A&C drivers. They might not want to start their careers all over again from the bottom.When ONE was first formed there was permit-swapping among ONE, NJT, and other private companies. With the present situation I do not know if there is (will be) an abandonment of permits by ONE and A&C that might allow NJT to swoop in and just take the routes, or if ONE and A&V have property rights in the permits and will sell the permits to NJT. Several years ago, the private companies in New York City had property rights in their routes, and the City of New York bought out those rights. But New York law may be different from New Jersey law. |
