Yes, labels change, but they don't usually affect the substantive issues! That said, I do wish that both MTABC and NYCTA were more sensitive towards the re-use of labels and the confusion it can engender.I don't think that you will find many correctional officers or prisoners themselves on the bus to Rikers Island; most passengers are visitors. And the passengers on the bus route have (at least in years past) routinely been derided by bus company employees, probably more so on the basis of their economic status and social behavior than race (notwithstanding the strong correlation between these three attributes). |
