Re: Taking the B9

The A, B, and C reroutes became the 1A, 1B, and 1C routes. The original 2 ran from Avenue U and Flatbush to the foot of Flatbush Avenue. The 3 ran from 25 Avenue to Flatbush. And the 3A is the present B31. The B2 became the B32 when the current B2 started in June 1936. I assume the 3A became the 31 at the same time.

When the Marine Pkway Bridge opened, the B32 was discontinued and Green Lines took over the service as the Q35.

B1 through B21 were the original Brooklyn bus routes that never were trolleys. The B8 was originally the B8 and B10. They both terminated at Brighton Station. Forget which half was the B8. The B9 terminated at Bay Parkway and the eastern half operated to E 16 Street as the B20. When the numbers 10 and 20 were no longer used, they were reused in other parts of Brooklyn. I believe the number 21 was originally used as the southern part of the B6 below 60 Street before it was used to replace the 1A and 1C. Not sure when the B prefixes started.
