B34 was combined with the B1 which was rerouted through Brighton Beach replacing the B21 on Sunday, November 12, 1978.

Actually the original B1 did not run all the way to 25 Avenue. Parts of the B1 and B21 began in the 1920's as routes A, B, and C. I forget which was which. I think "A" operated from Coney Island Hospital to Emmons and Brigham St. "B" ran from CIH to Mackenzie and Oxford via Ave X and West End Ave , and "C" from CIH to to Mackenzie and Oxford via Brighton Beach Ave. "A" was combined with with "C" to become the B21 in 1946. "B" became the B1. Not sure when the B1 was extended to 25 Ave but it was between 1936 and 1946.
