The Triboro Coach Q53 was something of an anomaly being an intrA-boro express, yet was not an official express route.The purpose for that franchise was to replace the LIRR branch. Yet the city said the hell with Parkside, figuring LIRR-Forest Hills and Glendale could serve it, and some other bus (QM10 was it ?) could handle Brooklyn Manor, though it was not far from LIRR-Woodhaven. Then when LIRR got rid of Woodhaven in the 1970's, that bus got a stay of execution to 2010, likely because people avoided the J train as it was a dangerous ride through Brooklyn in the 1970's and 1980's. Nonetheless, I think they over did it in the last decade with the Q53 with as any stops as it has. |
