Re: Second Avenue & East 36th

If I understand this situation, the bus was out of the tunnel onto westbound 36th Street and turning south (left) onto Second Avenue. The walker was walking north. That means the walker was on the driver's side of the bus. It seems that the view on this side is excellent. The greater problem with the coaches is mirror-only visibility on the right side. As a walker (seldom in Manhattan) I attempt to make eye contact with the driver, but if I am not on his side the visibility (driver to pedestrian and pedestrian to driver) is more difficult.

Some of the NICE buses have external loudspeakers announcing "Bus turning." With all the noise in Manhattan, that might not be too useful.
