Route 17 79 St Crosstown was legally a Madison Avenue Coach Co. route.The two separate corporate entities had nothing to do with crashes, accidents and pedestrians being run over. Madison Avenue Coach Co. was the NYC Omnibus takeover of the operation of the NY & Harlem Railway, part of the NT< New Haven & Harford Railroad.The railroad was actually an extension of the railway line. Eight Avenue Coach Co. was a NYC Omnibus takeover of the Eight Avenue Railway. Both railways had legal commitments to operate for a period of years. Therefore the corporate identities had to be maintained until they expired. Finally upon expiration NYC Omnibus could legally fully adsorb these two corporations into the NYC Omnibus corporation. and the legal names discontinued. |
