Reminds me of upstate NY and Pennsylvania intercity bus franchises in the 1970's in regulation days, where some routes ran once a month or once a year (i.e., Blue Bird from Erie to Scranton), in theory, so as to protect their rights to do charters, or keep a predator up-start from invading..In early 1978, I once staked out the D&F Transit bus depot in Fredonia, NY, for the departure of the once-a-month bus that was to depart for Jamestown and its monthly Sunday run on US62 to Gowanda at around 10:45am. Needless to say, there was no sign of life, and no bus left. If anyone important ever called them on it, I suppose they could have faked a Log book and driver on duty. |
