NYC Board of Transportation took over Comprehensive Omnibus and its affiliate East Side Omnibus on Sept. 22, 1948. NYC would not grant a two cent fare raise to 7 cents to the two private operators. Ironically, after the B of T takeover riders began paying 7 cents which had been the fare on all B of T buses and trolleys since July 1, 1948.

East Side Omnibus controlled the First, Second, and York Avenue lines. Comprehensive Omnibus controlled the crosstown routes on Madison-Chambers, 49th-50th, and 65th-66th Sts. All became the B of T (later TA) Manhattan Bus Division (pre-MABSTOA); drivers were TWU members.
