When I was a kid in the early '60s we would go to the lower east side to buy pickles from Guss, and I would see these old buses, unlike any I had ever seen. Coming from Rego Park, with its GMC Green Buses on the Q60, I was fascinated by the Ave B buses, but, sadly, never rode them. My memories are similar to yours. My mother would take us down to Orchard Street on a Sunday to buy clothes. I remember seeing those shortened buses. Like yourself I never got around to riding them. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
