I forget when they started to retire the Macks but their signs had it as 115/116.<.i>That was the wonderful thing about the cloth roll signs. You could always go back and see what the routes were. With today's electronic signs once you turn off the power the information is gone. We had a route like the 115/116 in The Bronx. Usually it was the Bx 22 Country Club - Spencer Estates run. Once a day during the school term at about 2 O'Clock Mabstoa would split the route in a Bx 22 Contry Club Road routing and a Bx 22A Spencer Estates routing. I never saw the Bx 22A listed on any maps but the buses carried the rollsign reading for it. My knowledge of buses is limited but I can say that there were three orders of Macks in the period 1948 to 1956. They were 5000 - 5114 Model C-45 in 1948 5200 - 5599 Model C-50 in 1950 6000 - 6317 Model C-49 in 1956 The C-49's entered service on Staten Island in 1956 replacing the C-45s. They remained there until 1969 when they were replaced by the 5100 old-look buses. The C-49's assigned to Saten Island were numbered 6210 thru 6317. Larry, RedbirdR33 Larry, RedbirdR33 |
