I remember that! An air bag blew where the passenger was sitting.That side of the bus went dowm over the rear wheels and the tires ate up the wheel housing which was suppose to be anodized aluminum, but was redone with fiberglass. Huh!! The MTA wanted to keep it under the cuff, so they sent those 5500's to Ulmer Park, and Hudson. Not sure if they went to any other depots. I can tell you this, those buses were fast. MWAP |
