We have more staying in house due to defects then we have on the road, and more in house than the New Flyers they replaced! They are not true artics as the 'turntable' isn't round as in the New Flyer, the turntable is straight on the front of the bus and the rear part rotates. This is the equivalent of a ball and hitch trailer set up vs. a true articulated coach. I tell anyone that asks that the 'bus' handles the same as a U-Haul truck and trailer! Backing up is the same as a trailer, and NOT an 18 wheeler as the pivot point is entirely different. The depot I'm at now houses a small army of NovaBus, Prevost, Cummins and Thermo King tech reps and mechanics. And we have a few that come in to do 'mods' on buses that have just left the factory on the overnight! Operationally, the trannys suck and jerk the bus on low power applications, the mirrors are set up wrong (driver side WAY too low!)brakes suck, oil leaks, SLOW front doors...... I could go on. STILL LOL@MTA BUS PROCUREMENT |
