All S-routes (such as S1, S40, S92) are primary local bus routes, for the most part (I say for the most part because the S25 just serves Babylon RR and North Babylon); all number-letter routes (such as the 6D, 10C) are LIRR feeder routes, which run from certain LIRR stations to certain communities too far from any LIRR service (such as Coram or Holtsville). Others, such as the Suffolk Clipper, are express or miscellaneous routes, I guess. Not too sure about that. Can someone enlighten us here?
